Meet the Roma Culture Collective team

Oto Bunda

Director, musician, singer & teacher

Oto is the director of the RCC, a musician, singer, dancer & teacher. He comes from a traditional musical Bunda family. His grandfather Eugen Bunda led the folklore ensemble Železiar for years. Oto´s  father Aladár and uncles Eugen & Vojto worked as musicians in the field of traditional cimbalom music troughout their entire lives.

Oto worked as an actor in the professional Roma theater Romathan. From 2011 to 2019, he participated in the leadership of the children's Roma choir Čhavorenge. 

He currently organizes singing & dancing workshops for the public, educators, and children. He plays the piano & guitar. Moreover, he composes his own music, which is multi-genre and sung in Romani language. Oto was the first Roma singer to sing the Romani anthem Gelem, Gelem on the stage of the Rudolfinum, the seat of the Czech Philharmonic. Oto is mainly managing the artistic part of the projects.

Astrid Hudečková

Creative soul, marketing manager & graphic designer

Astrid is a marketing manager, photographer, graphic designer, musician, pianist, singer, pedagogical guarantor of the project & co-founder of the association. Astrid is of mixed Czech-Roma-Sinti origin. She grew up in a musical family, where she learned to play the piano. For several years she was in the indie-alternative band The Probe, with which she played more than 40 concerts. Together with Oto, she performed at the legendary Glastonbury festival. Astrid composes her own ambient music.

She graduated with a master's degree from the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague - majors in pedagogy & art education. Astrid has worked most of her professional career as a marketer, graphic designer, photographer and copywriter.

Astrid also studied music production, so she is supervising the sound quality of the projects.
 

Michal Mižu Mižigár

Historian & Expert in Romani studies

Michal is a historian, expert in Romani studies, and co-founder of RCC. 

He studied Romani Studies at Charles University in Prague and Comparative History in Budapest at Central European University. He is the recipient of the prestigious Aspen Central Europe Leadership Award 2019. For more than 15 years he has been taking part in discussions & delivering lectures on Romani history & culture, both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
